Folks, just wanted you to know I talked with the surgical team and Julie is doing well. It is taking a bit longer than expected because the new kidney had multiple blood vessels and arteries feeding blood through it and the surgical team spent extra time preparing it for Julie. Better to do a good job the first time and take a little longer - that's my motto today :)
They expect to be done by 3pm or 3:30pm and then Julie will spend at least an hour in recovery coming out of anesthesia. At that point they will determine where she will go - ICU or 10th floor....it depends on how well she is doing as she wakes up.
Shelly is now on the 10th floor (out of recovery) and Glen is with her. She was a real champ today! The doctor said she had very little bleeding throughout the entire operation and the kidney came out like a charm. As she becomes more coherent I am sure she will want to chime in here - or Glen will chime in for her. Thanks to everyone - we feel your support 110%!
